How to successfully paint ceilings with a roller

Painting a ceiling differs to some extent from painting a wall, for example. Here we tell you more about the tools required and how to paint correctly.

  1. Prep work

    When you paint the ceiling, you run the risk of getting paint splashes on both the floor and the walls in the room. So make sure you paint the ceiling before the walls and protect other surfaces with plastic covers before you start. As always, the preparation is important for the end result of the painting itself. So take the time to check the condition of your roof, so that it is clean and smooth without marks. Any holes and other irregularities should be filled and sanded. Then wipe off any sanding dust with a microfiber cloth.

  2. Paint the ceiling

    Since painting ceilings requires a slightly different working position, using an extension pole is a big advantage. Start by painting a section of the cornice with a long angled brush. Then put a roller on the extension shaft. The Anza MicMex roller is particularly suitable for painting ceilings. To get a really even result, always make sure you have plenty of paint in the roller and that you paint in the direction of the light, i.e. from the window inwards. If the room has several windows, start with the one that lets in the most light.

  3. Avoid patchy parties

    Painting in daylight makes it easier to keep track of the results as you work.

    Do not paint too large areas at a time, it is important that you paint wet on wet all the time. Using too little paint is also a classic mistake that can cause a patchy roof. Therefore, dip the roller often! Read more in our article: How to avoid patchy ceilings and walls.
