  1. 1

    Prep work

Before you start painting your skirting boards and/or door frames, it’s important to do a good prep work. But before you get started, start by covering the floor with paper covering and secure with masking tape. Then wash off the skirting boards and door frames and leave to dry.

Once you have cleaned the skirting boards and door frames, you can start scraping off any flaking paint with a small scraper.

    Skrapa bort färg från list

Then sand the list to remove edges and any unevenness after scraping. It is also important to sand to make the paint adhere better. Then wipe off dust and dirt with a microfiber cloth.

    Base coat

If the sanding get you down to the wood, make sure to prime the skirting boards/door frames before painting. Prime one base coat and allow to dry. Then fill in nail holes and uneven areas with a small filling knife. Let the putty dry.

The primer of base coat is applied before putty to ensure that the putty adheres properly.

Then sand down the spackled areas to a smooth surface and wipe clean of dust with a microfiber cloth.

    Painting

Now it’s time to start painting skiriting boards and door frames for real! Make a first coat of the color you choosed, using a flat brush for best results. Once the paint has dried, you can seal any gaps with sealant. Then sand the list to remove any fiber residue and wipe off the dust. Then give it a second layer of paint, and you’re done.

    Tips!

Use plenty of paint when painting to avoid a stripy result.
